Howdy arty people! I’m popping in to show you this tag I made using my Gel Press® 5 x 7 plate. I think it will end up accompanying a bottle of wine I want to give a friend:
Here’s how I made it:
Gather supplies – Gel Press® gel printing plate, acrylic paint, brayer, stencil, patterned paper.
Apply yellow, orange and red paint to gel plate, and pull print over the top of some patterned paper. The pattern underneath helps add some interesting detail.
A second layer of paint is then applied, however I watered it down a little with a spray bottle as I wanted some of the first layer to show through.
I monoprinted a layer of green paint through the stencil onto some light patterned paper and cut a tag from it. I then cut a brown patterned paper tag just slightly larger.
Lots of leaves were then cut from the gel printed patterned paper using dies, and the word was cut from some brown patterned paper.
I stapled some twine to the tags to help guide me as I glued the leaves on.
Then I applied a small quantity of PVA glue to one end of each leaf and adhered it around the twine to create a wreath. The leaves look and feel like real autumn leaves!
The word was adhered to the centre of the wreath with foam mounting tape, and some twine was tied through the top of the tag. I added a little sticker to complete the sentiment.
